Michael Brombacher heads the Europe Department of the Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS). The work of FZS in Europe focuses on safeguarding large scale wilderness areas in the temperate part of Europe. Prior to joining FZS, Michael worked for ten years in Central Asia where he led and developed BirdLife International’s work in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, including the identification of Important Bird Areas (IBAs) in these countries.
Michael holds a degree in Geo-Ecologolgy (Diplom Geoökologe) at Potsdam University in Germany
